A gift to this fund provides much needed support to the college’s School of Music.
The Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln is a vibrant, collaborative space where students can cultivate their talents and learn in a meaningful way.
This development is done not only through their courses but also through dynamic opportunities provided by the college.
“The Glenn Korff School of Music is the only comprehensive music program in the state of Nebraska and plays a vital role in fulfilling the university’s land-grant mission,” said Felix Olschofka, the school’s director. “Our graduates in the field of music education are found in middle and high schools across the state, shaping the next generation of musicians and strengthening music education in Nebraska’s communities.”
“Our graduates in the field of music education are found in middle and high schools across the state, shaping the next generation of musicians and strengthening music education in Nebraska’s communities,” Olschofka said.
The Glenn Korff School of Music empowers students to pursue their musical passions while encouraging them to engage with broader questions about the future of the arts and their role in shaping it.
“We prepare students not just to be outstanding performers or educators but also to be adaptable, creative and community-minded leaders in the arts,” Olschofka said. “The entire building reflects our commitment to excellence … it’s a place that fosters creativity, collaboration and well-being. These facilities are more than just spaces; they reflect our vision for the future of music education and performance.”
“The Encore Circle Fund is crucial in allowing us to remain agile and responsive to emerging needs,” Olschofka said. “It supports a wide range of initiatives, from scholarships and guest residencies to instrument repair and student travel.
The students are given access to several cutting-edge facilities and experiences that provide real-world experience. Opportunities such as guest artist residencies, touring ensembles and a state-of-the-art recording studio with advanced audio and video capabilities ensure that every student has the tools they need to succeed.
“The Encore Circle Fund is crucial in allowing us to remain agile and responsive to emerging needs,” Olschofka said. “It supports a wide range of initiatives, from scholarships and guest residencies to instrument repair and student travel. These are not always things covered by state funding, but they make a tremendous difference in the day-to-day experience of our students and faculty.”
Thanks to donor support through the Encore Circle Fund, the school has hosted acclaimed guest artists, including Grammy Award–winning performers and conductors, and has covered vital travel expenses that enrich student learning.
“Recently, donor dollars also helped us upgrade technology in our recording studios and provide students with instruments they otherwise could not afford,” Olschofka said.
Looking to the future, Olschofka hopes to elevate the school’s national profile and expand scholarship support to attract and retain top talent.
“Our students go on to become the music educators who inspire the next generation in Nebraska schools, the performers who fill concert halls around the world, and the creators who are shaping the future of the arts,” Olschofka said. “Donor support empowers these journeys and fuels their dreams.”
